Introduction
April is always a changeable month. It can be spring-like and sunny but it can also be cold, snowy and damp. Here are our top five tips for keeping your garden looking at its best this month and getting it ready for that summer ahead.
Tie in Climbers and Roses
Tip 1: If you have climbing plants and roses then this is the month to start tying them up.
Tip 2: Feeding your shrubs and roses is a must at this time of year, particularly if your garden has container plants.
Tip 3: Protect from frost. Cover your container plants with bubble wrap or bring them into temporary shelter.
Tip 4: If the weather is particularly wet, move your potted plants under cover or raise them off the ground to prevent the soil becoming sodden.
Tip 5: Get to work on those weeds. If you catch growth early, manual removal is easier. Consider weed barriers or root barriers to stop the spread of perennial weeds.
